What Is IPS Officer ?
The Indian Police Service (IPS) is one of the three all-India services of the Government of India, IRAS (Indian Railways Account Service), IAS (Indian Administrative Service), IFS (Indian Forest Service). IPS was established in the year 1948. The cadre controlling authority for the IPS is with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
IPS Exam is a part of Civil Services Examination which is conducted every year by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). UPSC conducts various Civil Service Examination for the appointment of administrative posts like - IPS, IRS, IAS, IFS. You can become a Police Officer only after clearing such examination.

How to became IPS ?

IPS Qualification
If you have graduated from any recognized university, then you can sit in this exam. Final year students can also appear in this exam.
Age Limit For IPS
• For appearing in the IPS exam, the age of the candidate must be at least 21 years and maximum 35 years.
• The maximum age limit for the general category candidate is 30 years and the number of attempts is 4.
• The maximum age limit for OBC candidates is 33 years and the number of attempts is 7.
• For SC / ST category candidates, the age limit is kept at 35 years and the number of attempts is unlimited.
IPS Physical Requirement
In order to qualify the IPS exam, the candidate should have the following physical qualifications as given below:
IPS Ke Liye Height (Length)
To qualify this exam, the length of the male should be 165 cm, while for SC / ST male candidates the length is 160 cm. The length of women should be 150 cm, while the length for SC / ST women candidates is 160 cm.
Chest
For IPS, the chest of male candidates should be at least 84 cm and the chest for female candidates is 79 cm.
Eye Sight
Vision of healthy eyes should be 6/6 or 6/9 and vision of weak eyes should be 6/12 and 6/9.
IPS Exam Pattern
As we told you that, IPS Exam is conducted by UPSC, UPSC takes IPS exam in two parts, which is as follows:
Preliminary Exam:
Objective type questions are asked in the preliminary examination, there are 2 papers in this exam and both papers are of 200-200 marks, only after clearing this exam, you can sit in the main exam. Although set in both Hindi and English, questions related to English language Comprehension Skills will be provided in English only. Blind (blind) candidates will be given an additional time of 20 minutes for each paper.
Main Exam:
The main examination is more complicated than the preliminary examination, in which written examination as well as interview is taken. There are total 9 papers in the main examination.
Interview:
After clearing the preliminary examination and the main examination, you are called for an interview, the interview is taken through a panel which lasts for about 40 to 45 minutes. Only after clearing the interview, you are sent to IPS Ki Training and after some verification of the candidate, he / she is appointed to the post.
Preparation for IPS
