What is WiFi ?

WiFi is a technology in which connectivity of network is provided using radio wave.

An adapter for a WiFi connection is made a hotpot which is usually a wireless router and is connected to other devices such as laptops, mobiles, game consoles, or PCs for Internet access.

After configuring WiFi one, it broadcasts 2.4GHz to 5GHz frequencies depending on the size of the data.

Wi-Fi is the name of a popular wireless networking technology that uses wireless high-speed Internet and radio signals for network connections.

People normally think that the term Wi-Fi comes from "Wireless Fidelity", but this is not true. Wi-Fi is just a trademark phrase meaning IEEE 802.11x.

What Is Wifi Connection:

Typically for WiFi installed at home or office, a router is cabled to the Internet from an external ISP. Then this internet connection is configured in this router. Later all the devices connecting to this router get internet connectivity.

The other method consists of a hotspot device, which shares the Internet with other devices through a wireless signal.

Whenever the Wi-Fi is being used or what the source of its connection is, the result is always the same: a wireless signal so that other devices can connect to the main transmitter for communication.

Most mobile devices, video game systems, and other standalone devices now also support Wi-Fi, making them easy to connect to wireless networks.

When a device establishes a Wi-Fi connection with a router, it can communicate with routers and other devices on the network.

However, to provide Internet access to connected devices, it is necessary to first connect the router with the Internet.

WiFi Frequencies


A wireless network has a frequency level of 2.4 GHz or 5GHz, measuring on the data the user sends. 802.11 Networking standard to some extent depends on the needs of the users.

The 802.11a network standard has data transmitted at a frequency level of 5GHz. In this, you can transmit a maximum of 54 megabytes of data per second.

The 802.11b network standard transmits data at a frequency level of 2.4GHz. It is slow speed and can transmit a maximum of 11 megabytes of data per second.

What are Hotspots


The term hotspots are used to define the area where WiFi access is available. This happens either at home or at a public place such as a restaurant or airport.
If you are using a laptop, it already has a wireless transmitter that connects to WiFi. You can also connect direct WiFi to mobile, but for the computer you will need an external wireless adapter.
Advantages Of WiFi :
a) Users of such wireless networks can access the Internet from any convenient location. These are the best for laptop or mobile.

b) Users can access the Internet at any time by connecting their mobile to the private and public wireless network of the home.
For example, most chain coffee shops or malls provide internet access to their customers for free.

c) Users connected to a wireless network can increase their productivity almost everywhere by connecting their laptop to a private or public wireless network.

d) For wireless network you do not need any physical cable which saves the cost of network. Also, labor costs are also saved.

e) You do not need to spend extra on increasing the number of users in a wireless network compared to a wire connection. Multiple users are connected simultaneously to the same router.

Disadvantages Of WiFi :


a) Security:
Wireless networks can easily be hack than wired networks.

b) Range:
The range of Wi-Fi signals depends on the model of your route. Commonly used at home routers can range from 150 feet to 300 feet. If you want more range, then you need to buy Repeaters or Access Points.
